Our office uses digital radiography (x-rays) so there is less radiation to your child and no chemical waste to alter the environment. The reduction in radiation offered by digital radiography is usually 70 to 80 percent compared to conventional dental x-ray techniques. Digital x-rays can be sent, with your permission, via email to your child’s referring doctor or to orthodontists or other dental professionals we may request your child consult for their comprehensive dental treatment.
Computerized charting is also used to save natural resources, making our office virtually paperless.
Our sterilization techniques are state-of-the-art and we utilize numerous methods to prevent cross-contamination to your child.
Proper maintenance of dental handpieces (‘drills’) guards against transmission of pathogenic bacteria between patients. We use the Assistina 301 Plus system marketed by A-dec,Inc. This system expels debris from both the handpiece air and water channels, insuring the handpiece is bacteria-free even before being sterilized.
Our autoclave sterilizer is the LISA, marketed by A-dec, Inc. and manufactured by W&H, and is a Class B medical-grade sterilizer. We also use a Statim 2000 sterilizer, marketed by Scican.
We also offer electric handpieces (dental ‘drills’). Electric handpieces provide lower noise and less vibration as compared to the typical dental ‘drill’, which we find to be what most children dislike about dental visits. Electric handpieces still use a dental burr that physically makes contact with the tooth to remove decay and refine the tooth’s preparation to make the tooth ready for the filling material, but are much quieter and more efficient than conventional air-turbine dental handpieces.
However, for some applications, we are proud to announce we have a DENTAL LASER that can be used in most instances to remove decay from the tooth with little to NO ANESTHESIA!!
